Rick Ashmore
Rick Ashmore founded the Dunes Volleyball Club in 1989. Rick is currently the Varsity Coach at Crown Point High School. Coach Ashmore coached at Michigan City Rogers, Lake Central, Kankakee Valley and Saint Joseph High School in Michigan. He has won a total of 752 matches. He has won nine conference titles. Coach Ashmore has coached over one hundred girls who have gone on to play in college. Coach Ashmore team have qualified for USA Nationals for the last sixteen years. Last year, the Dunes 18 Black team won USA Nationals. Coach Ashmore looks forward to the new challenges of the Junior Director’s Volleyball Association. Coach Ashmore has two children - Jamie who is a junior and plays volleyball for Grand Valley State University and son Levi who works in the music business in Los Angeles, California.
Robert Ashcraft
Bob Ashcraft has been involved with volleyball at the club and high school levels for nine years. He is currently the Junior Varsity Coach at La Porte High School. He has coached many elite players on his Dunes Teal teams and last year was one win away from having them qualify for Nationals. Bob's JV High School team finished it's season with one loss last year at the hands of an exceptional Indianapolis Cathedral team. Bob played football, wrestling and track at La Porte High School. He also served in the United States Air Force. Bob is the owner/operator of Ashcraft & Sons Construction and co-owner of the Dunes Operation Center. Bob lives in La Porte County with his wife Rhonda Ashcraft, who is also a coach at La Porte.

Troy Campbell
Troy Campbell is 33 years old and a 8 year veteran of the LaPorte City Police Department. He attended Westville High School and won two Volleyball State Championships in 1991 and 1992. He was named to Volleyball Magazines FAB 50 his senior year and was the only player named to the list outside of California. He went on to receive a scholarship to play at IPFW. He returned to the area and began coaching at Westville High School for both the boys and girls Varsity/Jv in 1995. He began coaching in the Dunes Volleyball Club in 1996. He was the assistant volleyball coach for LaPorte High School From 1996 to 1999. He was also the head coach of New Buffalo High School in Michigan in the Winter of 1999. He attended the Police academy in the fall of 1999. He coached one season at Kessling Middle School in 2003. He was then hired as the Volleyball coach at Marquette Catholic High School, where he is currently coaching. In his first season at Marquette in 2003 his team was the State Runner-up losing to Morristown in the State Championship game. In the 2004 season Marquette won the State Championship beating Morristown in the Finals. In the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons Marquette has won State Championships beating Loogootee in the finals each of those years. They have won 4 straight State Championships from 2004-2007 and they are only the second team in the history of Indiana Volleyball to do so. He has accumulated a record of 162-30 in his first 5 years at Marquette. He has been named area coach of the year each of his 5 years. Troy also got engaged to be married this summer to Amy McMahon who also has been my assistant coach the past two years. He is also currently attending Purdue North Central finishing up towards a degree in Business Management.
Kaitlin Cole
Kaitlin has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years old. Throughout middle school she was honored with both MVP and Coaches Awards in both volleyball and basketball. Kaitlin also was on an Elite State Cup Soccer Team, before she chose volleyball as her main sport. She played Elite club volleyball for The Orlando Volleyball Academy since she was 12 years old. In high school, Kaitlin was on Varsity all 4 years. She was the Setter at a 6A high school which lost only to the State Champions her Sophomore through Senior years. As a Senior, Kaitlin was named: Seminole County Player of the Year…First-Team All Central Florida….First-Team All Conference….Third-Team All State…Oviedo High School MVP, along with several other recognitions in the Orlando Sentinel throughout her career. She was chosen for the FACA Exhibition All Star Team, as well as, the Orange County vs Seminole County All Star Team. She was also the recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award for both volleyball and soccer all 4 years in high school. She served as an Asst. Coach for a local middle school for three years and also coached for a local volleyball club for 2 years. Kaitlin played volleyball for The University of Tampa her freshman year before deciding to relocate with her family to Mishawaka, IN. She is currently a full time student at IUSB.
Chris Dixon
Chris Dixon graduated from Butler University with a bachelor's in accounting. She started on the volleyball team all four years while in college and was the North Star Conference Player of the Year her senior year. She was inducted into the Butler Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999 and still holds several volleyball records. She coached varsity volleyball for 12 years and has been coaching various middle school and 10 & under club teams with Dunes for 8 years. She is the proud wife of Ed Dixon, who assisted her throughout her coaching career, and mother of three "charming" children: Logan, Sydney, and Kameron and has returned to the high school classroom after being on "child- bearing hiatus" for the past 8 years.
Ed Dixon
Ed Dixon has been a girls' varsity assistant for 12 years and boys' JV/assistant for 3 years. He has coached many Dunes high school teams in the past 8 years and is an avid sportsman himself, playing softball, volleyball and golf. He currently is a flooring entrepreneur and stay-at-home dad for youngest son, Kameron
Janet Fitzpatrick
Janet Fitzpatrick has been involved with the Dunes Volleyball Club for ten years. Coach Fitzpatrick played tennis and volleyball for Laporte High School. Her daughter Laurel played for the Dunes Volleyball Club for 9 years and the Laporte High School Volleyball team. Laurel is currently playing volleyball for Stephan F Austin University in Texas. Coach Fitzpatrick and her daughter both won Volleyball Sectionals for Laporte High School.
Lynn Clarkson Grenough
Lynn started playing volleyball for Dunes and coach Ashmore in 1993, attending nationals every year 92 to 97 (under coach Ashmore and Presnell). Following her volleyball career at LaPorte High School (Coaches Larry Sheagley and Mary Beth Lebo, assisted by Troy Campbell), she played for the Division 1 women’s volleyball team at the University of Illinois-Chicago with a full-ride scholarship. She coached the Kesling Middle School in 2004, and currently coaches the Morgan Township JV volleyball team. This is Lynn’s third year of coaching a Dunes elite team.
Lynn and her husband Dan live in Valparaiso. They’re active in several adult volleyball leagues, and Lynn plays on an adult USAV team when time permits. Lynn recently completed her Masters in Architecture, and currently works for Pella Windows and Doors. Dan is an engineer for Arcelor Mittal Steelmaking in Burns Harbor.
Megan O’Shaughnessy
Megan O'Shaughnessy, maiden name Bowman. She played for Dunes in high school graduated in 2003 from Lake Central. She went on a full ride scholarship to the University of Michigan as one of the top 5 recruits in the nation. She was on the big ten freshman team as well as a few big ten honors throughout my career. Her sophmore through her junior year during the summers she played semi professional over seas to see if that was a career she wanted to pursue. Her Junior year, she tried out for the Olympic A2 team, She trained with them for the final parts of summer and then again winter break. Her senior year she decided to pursue a profession instead of being a professional athlete. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2007 with a focus in Sociology, Psychology and Business Finance. She was married May of 2007 to Adam O'Shaughnessy formerly a professional Hockey Player and is currently the assistant Hockey coach for Lake Central. They are expecting in late July, as most of you will notice as season progresses
Jennifer Orlowski
Jennifer Orlowski played for the Dunes Volleyball Club for 8 years. She played volleyball for LaPorte High School on Varsity for Mary Beth Lebo all four years, earning several awards. While at LaPorte High School, in 1998 her team became Duneland Conference Champs, and Sectional Champs. In 1999, Jennifer received the Most Valuable Player Award, Serving Award, and the Passing Award for LaPorte. She received the Burger King outstanding Student Athlete of the Week Award September 20, 1999. Also, for 1999-2000 she was awarded the Phi Delta Kappa Stan Klimczak Memorial Award “Underclass Athlete of the Year”. Jennifer was Captain of the volleyball team for LaPorte High School in 2000 and 2001. In 2000, she earned the Most Valuable Player Award and the Blocking Award for LaPorte. Jennifer was named Most Valuable Player in the LaPorte High School Invitational in the years 2000 and 2001. In 2001, Jennifer received the Most Valuable Player Award for LaPorte, won the Gatorade Will to Win Athlete Award in September, and was named Most Valuable Player in the Warsaw Community High School Volleyball Invitational. While at LaPorte High School, Jennifer made the Duneland All Conference Team in 1999, 2000, and 2001. With the help of Coach, Mary Beth Lebo, Jennifer received an invitation to play for Tourney Sport USA in Hawaii. She went on to make the All Tournament Team in the 2001 Hawaii Classics for Tourney Sport USA. In 2002, she graduated from LaPorte High School receiving an Academic Honors Diploma.
Jennifer went on to play volleyball at Florida State University under Head Coach, Todd Kress and at Purdue University under Head Coach, Dave Shondell. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Movement and Sport Science and a Minor in Organization, Leadership, and Supervision. She is currently the Head JV coach at Crown Point High School as well as the Assistant Varsity Coach under Head Coach, Rick Ashmore. Jennifer currently lives in LaPorte. This is her first year coaching a Dunes elite team.
Kylee Osborne
Kylee Osborne played for the Dunes Volleyball Club for 8 years, Michigan City Marquette HS and Indiana State University. Kylee made the 2003 Missouri Valley All-Academic and All Conference Teams. She graduated from Indiana State University in 2005. While at Michigan City Marquette her team won the 1999 State Championships and Kylee won 2 All State Awards. She graduated from Indiana State University in 2004. and is currently the teaches at Michigan City Krueger Middle School and the Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach for Michigan City High School.
Sharon Polite
Sharon Polite is from Valparaiso, IN. She resides there with her husband Joe. Her daughter Alisha is a member of the Indiana State Sycamores Volleyball team and her son Nick is a member of the Indiana State Track team. Both kids played volleyball for several years with the Dunes Volleyball Club. Sharon attended Ball State and Purdue North Central University. She is currently working as a Sales Rep for Blythe’s Athletics.
Sharon Coached at Washington Township High School for 24 years until her retirement in 2006. She led the Lady Senators to 4 Sectionals Titles. Along with the girl’s program she coached the Boy’s High School Volleyball team for 5 years winning their conference two times and the WTS Invite four years. She also coached Girl’s Basketball for 4 years where she was on the coaching staff that went to semi-state for the first time in school history.
She has been coaching an elite team for Dunes Volleyball Club for five years.
John Presnell
John Presnell has been involved in Volleyball for 36 years. From an Indiana State High School Championship in 1977 to dozens of indoor and outdoor championships in adult tournaments.
John began coaching Dunes in 1990, Qualifying for Nationals in 13 of the 18 years Coaching. The Dunes 16 team coached by John Presnell won the Junior Olympic Nationals Championships in both 1999 and 2006.
John formerly coached at New Prairie High School and Lacrosse High School.
John lives in Laporte County with his with Shari and son John III.
Scott Shrader
Scott Shrader has coached for the Dunes Volleyball Club for seven years. Scott played volleyball at Westville High School. Scott is currently the Assistant Volleyball Coach for Purdue North Central Panthers. Scott is married to Pam Shrader who also coaches for the Duens Volleyball Club.
Janet Slupczynsk
Janet Slupczynski has been involved in volleyball for many years either as a player, official, or coach. Her volleyball coaching experience includes four years at St. John Evangelist School, six years at Andrean High School where she is currently the Junior Varsity coach, and ten years with the Dunes Volleyball Club. She has coached elite teams for the past eight years, qualifying for nationals six times.
Janet graduated from Purdue University and is employed at the BP Whiting Refinery. She lives in St. John, IN with her husband, Dave. They have a daughter, Lorna, who attends St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN and plays on the Women’s Volleyball Team.
Kelli Stair
Kelli Stair played High School Volleyball for Fort Wayne Concordia and played for the Fort Wayne Volleyball Club. She is currently teaching at South Bend Washington High School. And the junior varsity volleyball Coach at South Bend Washington
Patti Yergler
Pattie Yergler played volleyball at Western Michigan University. Her coaching experience includes 5 years as Assistant Coach at Edwardsburg High School, 6 years coaching at Stanley Clark School, where she developed a competitive program and 4 years as Head Coach at South Bend Riley.
Pattie has been coaching travel volleyball for nine years. Seven of those years have been with Dunes Volleyball Club.

Tara Asher
Tara Asher is a first year Dunes Volleyball Club coach. Coach Asher played volleyball for Hebron High School and played Valparaiso Volleyball Club for 3 years. Coach Asher graduated from Purdue University in 2005. She has coached middle school volleyball for 3 years for both Hebron Middle School and Lowell Middle School.
Joy Brinkman
Joy Brinkman played for Michigan City Rogers, Vincennes University and 15 years of recreational volleyball both co-ed and women’s. This is her first year as a Dunes coach, but last year she helped coach a local team. She lives in Laporte with her husband Cary, son Adam, and daughter Amanda, who is playing Dunes 13’s..Joy enjoys volleyball, softball and hiking. Joy is the Controller at Swanson Center in Michigan City
Melissa Church
Melissa Church just finished her fourth year as the varsity volleyball coach at Stevensville-Lakeshore High School. Prior to taking over the varsity position at LHS, she coached the freshmen for 3 years, the Junior Varsity at New Buffalo High School for 2 years, and the 8th grade at Northeast Middle School in Grand Rapids for one. This is her first season coaching for Dunes. Coach Church is also a social studies teacher at Lakeshore. She and her husband, Gandalf, have one son, Henry.
Lorri Covaciu
Lorri Covaciu has been with the Dunes program for the last two years. Previously, she was the assistant Varsity volleyball coach at Merrillville High School for 10 years. Two of her three daughters play volleyball with the Dunes Volleyball Club now. She currently lives in Crown Point with her husband Rob and her three daughters Rachel, Courtney, and Kelly. Lorri works at Merrillville High School as an administrator
Cindy Cummings
Cindy Cummings started playing in the Dunes Volleyball Club when she was in the 6th grade and played until 11th grade. She played volleyball in high school for 3 years with Rick Ashmore as my coach. She lives Laporte, and is married with a 7 year old daughter (Bailey). She coached for Michigan City High School as the freshman coach for the 2 years and has coached for the Dunes Volleyball Club for three years.
Kristi Hoese
Kristi Hoese is the freshmen coach at Highland High School. She played Dunes Volleyball Club for 5 years. She played for Griffith High School and currently is a junior at Purdue Calumet University.
Kim Kirin
Kim Kirin has been involved with volleyball at the middle/high school and club levels for nine years. She is currently the freshmen coach at Lowell High School and will be advancing to the varsity head coaching position for the 2008-09 season. Kim coached at the middle school level under Lowell head coach, Wendy Pitcock for six years before moving up to the freshmen level in 2006. Kim has coached for the Northwest Elite Volleyball Club, the Lansing Parks Department’s summer volleyball program, and is currently in her fourth year of coaching in the Dunes Volleyball Club program. She currently teaches 8th grade Language Arts at Lowell Middle School
Monica Scheidt
Monica Scheidt has been involved with the Dunes Volleyball Club for three years. She has coached volleyball for five years and is currently the JV Volleyball coach at Lowell High School. She is an elementary teacher at Lake Prairie Elementary School in Lowell.
Adam Marschall
Adam Marschall is a product out of the Penn Men’s Team program. He continued on at Indiana University where he earned his teaching degree in Social Studies. Coach Marschall then traveled to Minnesota and worked for the Northern Lights Volleyball Club. He is currently a Government teacher at Penn High School and serves as the Varsity Assistant in their volleyball program. Coach Marschall is currently coaching a 14under team for Dunes locally out of Penn.
Paige Marschall
Paige Marschall is a 28 year veteran with volleyball in the Mishawaka area and Penn Harris Madison Schools. She has served as Penn’s freshmen coach for 18 years. Coach Marschall has coached the men’s team at Penn and has coached Penn Local club teams at the 14under age level for the last 10 years.
Amy McMahon
Amy McMahon has coached with Dunes for the last four years. She played for the Lion's volleyball club, Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, IL and continued as a scholarship player at the University of Illinois-Chicago with fellow Dunes' coach Lynn Grenough. Amy captained her high school team as they won the school's first-ever girls' State Championship. The team was ranked in the Top 10 nationally. She works as an accountant at Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor. She will be getting married to Dunes' 13 Black coach Troy Campbell this summer.
Von Metzger
Von Metzger has been the Varsity coach at Sturgis, Michigan for the past 17 years. During this time Sturgis has won numerous league and district titles and Von has accumulated more than 500 wins. Coach Metzger is assisted by his wife Connie, a former high school and college volleyball athlete. Von and Connie have 2 children, a 12 year old boy Cobi and 10 year old girl Kelsey. Kelsey is currently playing for the Dunes 11 Black team.
Colleen Moore
Colleen Moore was a setter for the Penn High School Volleyball Team. She helped lead her team to a State Finals appearance. She currently is finishing her college degree at Indiana University South Bend. Coach Moore is the 7th grade coach for Discovery Middle School and has coached for the Dunes club at the 10 under & 12 under levels locally with Penn.
Lori Moseley
Lori Moseley was an all-state volleyball player at Martinsville High School and played club ball for Circle City. She was a 4 year starter at Butler University, earning all conference honors for 3 years and conference MVP her senior season. Coach Moseley has been involved with the Dunes Volleyball Club for more than 10 years, coaching both elite and local teams. She lives in Crown Point with her husband and three children. Lori is a Vice President of the commercial loan department of Heritage Community Bank.
Lisa Pawlik
Lisa Pawlik has been involved with the Dunes Club for 10 years. She has been a teacher/counselor and Head Volleyball Coach for 24 years. She currently is teaching physical education at Penn High School where she has been the head volleyball coach for the last 14 years. She has led Penn High School Volleyball to 4 state final appearances in class AAAA while her teams have tallied over 600 wins. Coach Pawlik directs the local teams out of Penn and assists with these local teams. She has also coached Dunes Elite teams at the 12 under & 13 under levels

Patty Rawlings
Coach Rawlings is very happy to bring her love of the game of volleyball to the Dunes Club. Coach Rawlings is currently the Boys Varsity Volleyball coach at Morgan Township High School. She has coached, for several years, at the Junior High, High School and club levels. She has previously coached at St. Mary's in Crown Point, Pierce Middle School in Merrillville, Kankakee Valley Middle and High Schools in Wheatfield. She has coached the Local teams for Dunes for 3 years. In addition to coaching volleyball, Coach Rawlings was President and Vice President of Hebron Little League for several years. Coaching both softball and baseball teams while running the league. She has her USA Volleyball Cap I certification along with the ASEP Coaching Principles and ASEP Sports First Aid certifications. She looks forward to another great season with her teams.
Gerald Riddle
Attended Indiana University for about 2 years, earned a electronics degree from Devry Technical . Retired since 2005. Wife is a school teacher for the past 15 years.
IHSAA Official fpr over 25 years. Coached Jr High VB for 6 yars, Coached club VB for over 10 yrs. (Boy & Girls Club, Chicago Heights Stake). Been involved in youth athletics about 35 years (President of Glen Park Biddy Basketball for 6 years)..
Married 43 years, 8 children (6 of which earned 30 varsity athletic letters, 3 which College Varsity Athletics.
Kaitlin Sautter
Kaitlin Sautrer is 20 years old and this is her first year as a coach for the Dunes Volleyball Club. She graduated from Crown Point High School in 2006 where she lettered in Volleyball for three years. She was MVP her senior year. She is currently working towards a degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University Northwest. She work as a teacher at Children’s First Learning Center and as a secretary at Century 21 Pace Four Seasons.
Courtney Schuttrow
Courtney Schuttrow is in her second year coaching Dunes. She played volleyball at Lowell High School for four years and has just completed her second year coaching Lowell Middle School 7th grade Volleyball.
Larry Sheagley
Larry Sheagley started coached JV at LaPorte in 1977-2003. He became assistant coach at Marquette in 2003 to the present. He has been a Dunes coach since the early 1990's where I have coached at the 13 and 14 age groups. Larry is a teacher at LaPorte High School since the fall of 1973 and is currently teaching AP Biology and Anatomy/Physiology. Larry has been married for 38 years and has two married daughters and one granddaughter - age 7.
Alison Shevik
Coach Shevik is a 2000 Andrean and Dunes Volleyball alumni. After graduation, she attended Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration concentrating in marketing and management. While at Saint Mary's, Coach Shevik was a two year captain for the Belles volleyball program as well as an all-conference award winner. After graduation, she returned to Andrean as the assistant varsity volleyball coach while she earned her Masters in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University. This is her 5th year and third season as head coach for the Niner Volleyball Program. She is currently coaching 14's club volleyball for the Dunes Volleyball Club and in years past has coached for organizations such as Northwest Elite and FBV. She is currently residing in Crown Point with her family until her upcoming wedding in May to Daniel Duncan, a 2000 graduate of Lake Central High School.
John Sovinski
John Sovinski is an 11 year veteran coaching the Junior Varsity Team at Penn. Prior to coaching at Penn he coached at Grissom Middle School 8th grade volleyball. An avid player himself at “The Outpost” he has also coached the Penn men’s team in the spring. Coach Sovinski has coached club at the 13under & 14under age divisions for Dunes for the last 10 years
Cindy Wilson
Cindy Wilson currently resides in Griffith with her husband David. She is in her 2nd year of coaching for the Dunes Volleyball Club. She has been the Varsity Coach at East Chicago Central H.S. for the past 5 years. Coach Wilson played volleyball and softball for Washington High School and graduated from Indiana University. Her daughters Amber and Melissa have been involved with the Dunes Volleyball Club for the past 4 years and her son Raymond is currently active in wrestling & swimming.
Nancy Welker
Nancy Welker has been involved with volleyball for over 30 years. Nancy played 2 years of NJCAA volleyball basketball and softball before earning a Division 1 scholarship in volleyball to complete her career. Nancy holds a Master’s of Science degree from Chicago State University. Nancy’s coaching career spans over 15 seasons including 4 seasons as an assistant coach at the High School level.
Nancy has been a Head Coach at St. Francis DeSales High School in Chicago, Seton Academy in South Holland, IL, and most recently was the Head Coach at TF South High School in Lansing, IL where she is still employed as a Phyiscal Education Instructor today. Nancy’s teams compiled an overall record of 236-111-2 which includes 5 Illinois Regional Championships and 5 Conference Championships while at TF South.
The Chicago Tribune named Nancy as “one of the winningest coaches in the South Suburbs” when announcing her retirement from coaching.
This is Nancy's second season coaching in Dunes.
Nancy has been married to her husband Ron for the past 17 years. Nancy and Ron reside in Winfield IN with their 2 children Tori and Tyler. Tori is a sophomore on the varsity volleyball team at Crown Point HS as well as a member of Dunes for the past 4 years. Tyler is a 7th grader at Wheeler Middle School in Crown Point.
Beth Zachary
Beth Zachary is an English Teacher and the Head Softball Coach at Penn. She also coaches 7th grade volleyball at Schmucker Middle School. Coach Zachary played high school volleyball and college softball. Coach Zachary has coached for Dunes at the 12under, 13under, & 14under levels locally with Penn.
